I uploaded a show http://www.archive.org/details/NM2006-05-05.flac16 but there is no music just the associated text files.

Where did the flac files go?

Hm... I swear I saw them there yesterday- because I wrote the band to approve your set- and when I tended it post band-OK this morning I could have sworn the files were there then (4 hr ago). Going for advice on this...

:(

Did you also see the files safely in your item (via the details page), before they disappeared?

See Original post:

I uploaded this show http://www.archive.org/details/nm2006-05-04.flac and when I checked out all the files were there both in my FTP client window and in the checkout yet track 1 and 4 from disc 2 are missing, people have already started downloading this incomplete show. Where are the missing tracks?

Oh dear, that's the *other of the 2 shows* I froze last night, (saw files then), got approval for, and then unfroze/tweaked something in details page this morning- all in parallel with Stan's item. I can't remember if I saw the files this morning but I do believe they were there last night.

Oh wait though satchmo, you weren't talking about the *whole* fileset being missing, just the 2 tracks? I believe I did see last night that the 2 tracks were missing then before I touched it either way.

EDIT: I further see that the same 2 tracks are still missing, so at least nothing has changed in that regard since before last night, am I correct?

Diane,
Since the now added files don't compile to mp3 and the show still appears as if it's incomplete I'd like to have it removed from the archive and I will freshly re-upload it.
The show in question is http://www.archive.org/details/nm2006-05-04.flac
Thanks in Advance...

No, please do not create a whole new item in the collection for this same fileset. AFAIK your fileset just needs a little tweaking, see http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=61826

I followed the directions, uploaded the missing tracks and re-compiled the show but now they are showing up as "Other Files" Can these be moved to where the rest of the shows files are? http://www.archive.org/details/nm2006-05-04.flac

Thanks for your help Diane.

Would it make things easier if I repost this show?

What's the status on this? Do I need to repost the show?

This came up on a Friday afternoon, and after descrip to engineers, from what they can see they don't have a record of the music files ever being in the item! But Jeremy Ward and I thought we remembered seeing them. So with 2 conflicting bits of evidence yet to resolve, Fri PM became weekend. It is still a weekend and after that I still counsel wait-and-see, until/in case any confusion vs bug issues can be considered further by folks in the know. Thanks and apologies.

Thanks Diana,

I understand the timing and all of the other issues you and the team are dealing with here; I did some more research myself, and now think I know what happened. When I launched the FTP client it auto-started the audio-uploads.archive.org connection, and when I pasted in the correct location I still had the old one open and posted the files there thinking it was the new adress. Is it a simple thing to move it over to the correct location?

Ah, whew! I'm much less worried that you made a mistake, and that Jeremy and I were wrong in apparenty remembering files- and that there's not some huge delete-files bug we never saw before. ;)

OK, to fix the mistake, I believe it should go like this:
-Optionally, go to your old audio-uploads area and delete those mis-uploaded files if you want. You won't be able to get them back or move them over to your existing item, and you can free up space for people who might still be trying to finish their old half-done items there and transition them over.

-Go to your existing, empty item's details page,
http://www.archive.org/details/NM2006-05-05.flac16
hit Edit item> Item manager> checkout I think. You'll see instruction about adding or replacing files. Use the files on your PC, and notice what server to use- BTW it will change show-to-show if you upload more than one show over the years.

Here is a walkthrough, in fact:
